Back as Cunningham Cattle Co.

The family has ranched near Broadwater for four generations, since ZT McManis started the homestead in the early 1900s.

Over the years the ranch has run under several family business names. Now we're bringing it back together under the name it sold cattle under in the 1980s. Beef for your table is the new part. The family history and the cattle operation carry on with it.

Out in the Nebraska Panhandle

Broadwater is a small village in Morrill County, out in the Nebraska Panhandle. It sits in the North Platte River valley, with bluffs on both sides of the river.

This is cattle and irrigation country. The valley is watered by ditches and canals that settlers dug more than a century ago, and center pivots now stand on the irrigated ground.

How we raise it

From the ranch to your freezer. We'll post the details for each step as we set them.

  1. Born here

Calves are born on the ranch, starting in spring 2027.

  2. Raised on our grass

Calves grow up with their mothers on the ranch's pasture.

  3. Finished on grain

Steers kept for beef are finished on grain. We'll publish the ration and days on feed.

  4. Processed under inspection

Cut and wrapped at a USDA-inspected plant, then brought home to the freezer at the ranch for pickup.

Ways to buy

Prices will be set before the first harvest in 2028. People on the list hear first.

How it works
Same as a half, split with another household.

Cuts by the pound

Packaged beef
Your pick
Steaks, roasts and ground beef.
How it works
USDA-inspected packages, sold once processing is booked.

If a share is cut custom-exempt rather than under inspection, every package is stamped "Not for Sale" and is for your own household only, as federal rules require. We'll tell you which way your share is processed.
